Razer Announces Blade Gaming Laptop

The $2799.99 laptop is impressive not just for its specs (which include a 2.8GHz Core i7 2640M, an Optimus-equipped GeForce GT 555M with 2GB of GDDR5, a 17" 1920x1080 display and 8GB of RAM) and its dimensions (16.81" wide, 10.9" deep and 0.88" high, weighing just under 7 pounds), but for its striking design and its integrated multi-touch LCD panel, which can serve either as a touchpad or a second display. Also included is Razer's Switchblade User interface (see above the multi-touch panel in the photo above), which allows users to map in-game functions to 10 extra physical keys.
The Blade is expensive, and to be sure, its market niche is small, but it's nice to see a serious high-end gaming laptop that takes form factor and aesthetics into account - many gaming laptops, like the Toshiba Qosimo X775 we reviewed recently, definitely leave something to be desired in that department.

This computer looks sweet. Too bad I'll never buy another Razer product again. Their customer service is sub-par and their product QC is garbage. The Razer Lycosa keyboard and Razer Naga mouse was my own personal experience with them. The keyboard had a defect where keys would just stop working, or the lights would just turn off. The only way to resolve the issue of the keys not working was to unplug the keyboard and reconnect it. I called them about it, and despite it being a known issue, they would not stand behind the keyboard and replace it. They wanted me to go back to the place where I bought it from, which was Newegg. BTW, Newegg stood behind the product even after 30 days past from when I purchased it. The fact that the company would knowingly sell a defective product and then not stand behind it when a customer receives one is pathetic. Only if the Lenovo is on a major sale/rebate, but even at regular pricing... $1200 now for a Lenovo with similar specs (or $1000 or so for a Clevo with similar specs). I guess the R&D for the multi-touch LCD touchpad is a $1500 expense?Aikouka - Friday, August 26, 2011 - link
Jarred, I think it might be worthwhile to consider that you can buy an Alienware M18x with dual 6990Ms in Crossfire for less than this laptop. The positive aspect of that is you get 2 hard drives (nice for a powerful laptop) and you can actually play games at 1080p with all the bells and whistles. Hey Razer! Why not make a laptop that actually compares and works better to yours THEN add your retarded touchpad/keys and only make it cost $200-300 more, not over $1000 more.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
And your only things better than this laptop are weight, size(arguably) and CPU by 10 in the series, cause turboclock is retarded to judge by.
Also, Asus has REAL customer support and it is GREAT.

Um, wrong!!!! The example you gave has a Nvidia 560M which is waaaaaaaaay better than a 555M. The 555M retails for about $90 or less while the $560M retalis for about $300.The 555M is actualy slower than a 460M I do believe. I will say it is hard to find a laptop with a 1080p screen. The below link allows you to build a similar computer for about $1200.

You can get a Lenovo on Newegg with almost everything the same except for the 1080p screen for about $900.

That laptop is almost 3 times thicker than the razer laptop, that's where the premium price comes from, why can't people figure this out?
