I wonder how their driver support is. Bloatware doesn't matter to me, because I'll clean it off, but if they're not keeping up with things, I'd rather not get stranded 3 years down the road when Microsoft releases something new.

Where have you been? Windows 10 is it. No Windows 11

I bought one of their 9 series laptops about 3 years ago. I'm having a terrible time getting proper drivers for Windows 10. The laptop itself is well built and well spec'ed, but I'll be looking at Lenovo or HP in the future.

I also have a 9 series from about 3 years ago and no driver issues under Windows 10? I do have their crapware driver updating service installed, sometimes they only release new drivers on that, you may want to install it.

Again, what is the point of making it razor thin, when it affects battery life. This laptop screams to be mobile but by making it so thin, it reduces battery life.

Seriously, it's so stupidly designed, 30Wh in a 13.3" will last 4 hours. Any portability advantage is lost on the brick that will need to be brought everywhere

It sure would've been nicer if they had created a CoreM model, gotten rid of the active cooling and replaced the fan with battery so it'd be able to go up to 35-40Wh ;-)

Or maybe just copy the surface book and add baterry behind the screen.

    But the core m is performing like 25-50 % of a "i7 U" unit
  • dominicmmm - Thursday, January 7, 2016 - link

    yeah.
actually worse. The Core U CPUs drain like 10 to 15 Watts under load. so you get 2 hours at 30W model. adding the 13inch and "bright 'n' vivid" display you get even less under full load with maximum brightness.

Why arent any of these companies (Dell XPS 13, Lenovo Yoga, Samsung above) using the HD540 iGPU chips? They are still only 15Watts, so its certainly not that. They dont even offer them for upgrades. I do not understand that.

Not available yet. They're slated to be released by to OEM's something during Q1 2016 so expect products featuring them just in time for late summer/back to school season I guess.

    Edit
*released by Intel to OEM's sometime during...

That's the last I remember reading

Several hours ago LG announced LG gram 15 which is 15.6 inch Ultrabook with only 2.16 lbs, so Samsung notebook 9 is not the lightest 15.6" now. :P
  • doggface - Wednesday, January 6, 2016 - link

    Any idea on price?
  • Lolimaster - Wednesday, January 6, 2016 - link

We need to ban 16:9 from notebook (also movies/video) and make 3:2 the new GOD.
